Amigurumi Otter pattern.


Hello everyone! can you believe we are already halfway through the year? How's your year been so far? With lockdowns and online classes for kid, it's difficult to find time for crochet. Hoping for better days ahead. Meanwhile, enjoy this cute little otter pattern.

This pattern is written in US English terms and worked in continuous rounds unless stated otherwise.

Materials needed:

  • Sport weight yarn in beige, brown and white colour.
  • 2.5 mm crochet hook.
  • Fiber fill stuffing.
  • 6 mm safety eyes.
  • Black embroidery thread.
  • Tapestry needle.
Abbreviations:
R - round/Row
St - stitch.
Sc - single crochet
Inc - increase ( 2 sc in same stitch).
Dec - decrease ( sc 2 st together).
Sl st - slip stitch.
[...] - repeat the instructions given in between the brackets.
(..) - total number of stitches.



Head and body:
Start with beige colour yarn and,
R1: 6 sc in magic ring (6).
R2: Inc in each st (12).
R3: [ sc in next st, inc ] x 6 (18).
R4: [ sc in next 2 st, inc ] x 6 (24).
R5: [ sc in next 3 st, inc ] x 6 (30).
R6: [ sc in next 4 st, inc ] x 6 (36).
R7-10: sc in each st (36).
Switch to brown colour yarn.
R11-20: sc in each st (36).
Insert 6 mm safety eyes between R9 and R10 with 6 stitches in between. 
R21: [ sc in next 4 st, dec ] x 6 (30).
R22: [ sc in next 3 st, dec ] x 6  (24).
R23: [ sc in next 2 st, dec ] x 6 (18).
R24: [ sc in next st, dec ] x 6 (12).
R25: dec in each st (6).
Fasten off and close the ends.

Arms (make 2):
With brown colour yarn,
R1: 6 sc in magic ring (6).
R2: [ sc in next 2 st, inc ] x 2 (8).
R3-4: sc in each st.
Don't stuff and sc through both the layers to close.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Ears (make 2):
With brown colour yarn,
R1: 6 sc in magic ring (6).
R2: [ sc in next 2 st, inc ] x 2 (8).
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Legs (make 2):
With brown colour yarn,
R1: 6 sc in magic ring (6).
R2: [ sc in next st, inc] x 3 (9).
R3-4: sc in each st (9).
Don't stuff and sc through both the layers to close.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Tail:
With brown colour yarn,
R1: 4 sc in magic ring.
R2: [ sc in next st, inc ] x 2 (6).
R3: [ sc in next st, inc, inc ] x 2 (10).
R4-10: sc in each st (10).
Don't stuff and sc through both the layers to close.
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Muzzle:
With white colour yarn,
R1: 6 sc in magic ring (6).
R2: inc in each st (12).
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
With black thread, embroider nose on the muzzle.

Assembling:
Sew the muzzle in between eyes.
Add in ears between R5-7.
Sew arms between R12-14. 
Sew legs slantingly around R20-22.
Attach the tail around R20 at the back.
